The national government officially announced the resignation of Nahuel Sotelo as head of the Secretariat of Worship and Civilization. His position will be taken by Agustín Caulo, who previously served as his second-in-command in the area. Sotelo's resignation, accepted via a decree signed by President Javier Milei and Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, will allow him to return to the Buenos Aires Legislature. There, the 32-year-old leader will resume his role as one of the main figures of the libertarian space in the province. Caulo's appointment, nicknamed internally as "El chino," ensures the continuity of the ideological and political line that Sotelo had printed in the secretariat since August 2024. Like his predecessor, the new secretary has a markedly conservative and Catholic profile, with well-oiled ties to the ecclesiastical hierarchy. Before arriving at the sub-secretariat, Caulo had served as National Director of Catholic Worship, which gives him extensive experience in managing the institutional relations of the San Martín Palace with different creeds. Sotelo's departure from the Executive branch to reinforce the libertarian bloc in the province of Buenos Aires marks a strategic movement in the official party's internal politics.
